What a stunning news that Pakistan has no control over Shamsi air base (currently in USA use) because it was built by UAE Sheikh on a purchased land from Pakistan. My question as a citizen, who on earth allowed this transaction and its use against Pakistan interests. Are we then going to entertain similar requests from India, Iran and Russia. What can we call a country, who is selling mother land to others to be used against its own interests later. UAE on their part has done nothing less than what Israel is doing with the purchased land from Palestinians.
About time someone asked questions. But how shameful for PML Q to state such disgusting things since they are part of the ISI.
Good to See ISI cheif in such a hopeless condition, I think its new move in Pakistan’s politics.

In USA, every senator believes that the ISI was hiding Osama in a safe house house at the behest of some Saudi’s. The Saudi’s apparently funded the whole operation. ISI informer let the secret out to the CIA. Leon Panetta and Hirralry Clinton stood ground and asked Obama to strike.
The complicity of the military establishment and the ISI in keeping Osama in safe house will make it illegal for the US to provide any aid to Pakistan. The Laws of US prohibit funding for a state that sponsors terrorism and terrorist infrastructure.
The country and its instutions is being run by bunch of incompetent people. The problem is the present alternatitive is not good either.
President Zardari should had been there to reply or he is still called by joint session and should be included in judicial inquiry for his prostrated role to CIA, Blackwaters, drones, allowing Altaf Hussein to incite sedition, treason,in jawan, generals, divide armed forces during last one year from London(who commands and controls electronic and print media here)on probably ten billion dollars live transmission and disarraying nation, defense forces from its right functional priorities than serving political interests of one man-made worst despotic virtual king by his coalition cartel of corrupts and gutter opposition. They all must be put to trial and before the inquiry commission for failing the nation and in abject misery and shame.
it is a real shame that a whole lot of nothing was said and happened. As usual the “spy chief” directed the responsibility at political leadership. The basic question remains “why OBL was in the top military garrison? Who helped him out? Why was ISI and army has been saying that OBL is not in Pakistan? Why were they not aware of his presence?
People who know the country’s history were aware that like the surrender in East Pakistan and defeat at Kargil, nothing would happen. Not a single army officer is ever going to be punished. I distinctly remember dictator Zia had issued a martial law ordinance according to that, it was made a crime to criticize Islam, prophet, Quaid Azam, and the armed force. In other words armed forces were equal in status to our Prophet and Quaid Azam. BTW, that ordinance was after the abject and shameful surrender in East Pakistan to Indians. That black law under martial law is still functioning in Pakistan.

.Shuja Pasha has to go. He should be Court Martial along with Air Chief and the Defence Minister should go to. Army Chief and Prime Minister should be questioned too as the ground attack took for good 1 hr and the Army was sleeping.
This is the time to reprimand all the concerned people to make our country stand. And Drones should be shot down now. Enough already.
So, after all the people at the top were informed and their joint response was to keep their cool. What’s wrong with that? Is it not the main responsibility of a State and people in power to protect its people at any cost? As far as I’m concerned, it’s the best response in our best national interest. I’m glad that common sense has prevailed over hubris and I don’t give a damn how the Dons Nawaz-Shabaz behave or their rookies Nisar Chaudhry-Khans and Daultanas bark —– the ordinary Pakistanis must be spared the havocs of a reactionary response resulting in a direct armed conflict with the only super power. We just can not afford this adventure that Nawaz League wishes to let loose on Pakistan and its security forces; if they don’t like it they can always go back to where their hero Osama came from or has gone to.
The military establishment has finally break the silence, in front of the representatives of Pakistan. Now, is the time of our Political leadership, to take a stand and give answers to the same questions, like
1 – Who has given Americans, the authority to carry out ‘Drone Attacks”, who from Pakistan, authorized the deal.
2 – Why the government establishment has failed to present any terrorist / activist in any legal court, although so many have been caught in recent years.
3 – Why “Army is setting up colleges and technical schools in Swat and Balochistan, and what the hell “Political Government” is actually doing for those People”.
4- As asked in the article, why our Prime Minister and our President, didn’t call for a meeting even after 5 years, This indicates a serious threat, if anything, more sever happen in future, we don’t expect our leadership to respond in a quickly and in a timely manner.
Military has spoken and now the ball is in Government’s court. Lets see, if our elected members are courageous enough to answers the question the nation has a right to know.
Please please please have a joint parliamentary enquiry – let Pasha and others answer questions from members of parliament. Like Col North did after the Iran-Contra deal, like Blair did after the Iraq war etc etc. We need to empower the parliamentarians. And i hope one of the suggestions that will be made will be that no person of the armed forces will meet with foreign dignitaries without a member of the foreign office being present and taking notes. This will ensure the end of the double speak at least.
Pakistan armed forces and intelligence are one of the best; but questions quibbles as if this state of affairs continue, USA may take anyone from Pakistan without intimation, which is highly unacceptable; the SEALS are not better than our SSG, I am sure, The powerful foreign media is concentrating on the presence of Bin Laden in Pakistan but we should focus on our violation of our territory and contribution in war against terrorism; Minstry of ininformation should awake from deep slumber and with Foreign office make counter policy to mould the international public opinion about Paktsan; any way, we as a nation should stand by our soldiers; whatever the case a strong protest/warning by foreign office may be re lodged for not taking Pakistan into confidece; Pak Airforce and Army should make it clear that such activities will not be tolerated and the intrusion in our territory will be dealt accordingly rather concentrating on relationship; meanwhile with the help of neighbours, Pak forces improve their technology to target accurately or under direct vision the flying intruders ; Pakistan Government should make it clear that our logistic support and other cooperation for ISAF may be disturbed/affected by these adventures; We should be capable to hunt down the Drones( by strenous training ) if they cross Pakistan borders despite limited resources contributed by the people of Pakistan ; only such an activity at an appropriate time will restore the shattered confidence of our nation; we hope rather verbal explanation, ISI and army may show in someway their abililities by conducting some operation to improve moral of nation at some time; hope we will able to demonstrate at later stage; ” They need us , we dont need them “
Well, It seems to me that we do not have air defence system on the west side of the country, Isn’t it ridiules ? Its a huge question for me. We are spending 85% of our money on these stupids where is it goind ? we are just developing our Neuclear system and not on our air defence and border defence system? if we get the ability, we can stop cross border terrorist and any other threat like US Army did It.
We should have a very limited and written coordination with US & that has to be very crystal clear and not hiden/verble agreements.
We all know how useless USA relationships for us is coz they have just used us in Afghan war and left us no where.
USA can’t help us in any case like if you look at the F16 deal it was delayed couple of decade even after100% payments.
We have to look at it very seriously now coz its harming us very seriously.
I don’t know why our top leadership is scared of USA we have got an Army of 180 Million soldiers in case US invade our country.
We have to have very strong nerves for making a dicission for our own beloved country.
I’m sure some one will forward all these comments to our Top leaderships (Political/Army)
Please love Pakistan first. its our mother land.
I’m professionally banker and Master in Financial services from Karachi.
I’m sure my massage clear enough for everyone.
And yet again the citizens of that poor country are told they are not patriotic and aer not defending their intelligenc and military ??? Did these institution defended their people, did they defended their dignity, respect and soverignity??? If yes then the people will defend them, if not, why shell these poor people defend them? So only they can be killed and conqured by these instituitons? It’s such a pity, do we have any thing called conscience at all?
Hopeless situation.
Just a complete lack of leadership all around. S
Pakistan is going through its worst time. Why can we just all agree to get top technocrats from every field take over and run the government. These top technocrats should have Masters degrees from top rates institutions (anywhere in the world) and they should run the ministries. Just put a top rates Economist in charge of the government who sets a target, makes his agenda clear, and reports to the country and its people progress on reaching the target.
God help Pakistan. My last hope was in Kiyani, but that too is lost now…
every one showing their concern over the issue of abbotabad, there is no issue of concern issue is how to manage for future, i m very dis-appointed with pml(N) owing reason that such party policy is still in still on 12th,october 1999, in the revenge, they are only trying disgrace a honorable agencies and assetts of pakistan mr pasha, every one know we prepare defend against india our preperation is not against USA, so called unclaimed king of world, Abbotabad incident was a drama, played at pakistani land just adjecent to kohta so that pakistan and ISI should try to handicap infront of western, but present stand of ISI and establishment is appreciatable, we pakistani must support unconditionally, because pak army is our army, critism as far as concerned by pml(N) is very dis appointed,
Pasha should resign ASAP.
Another relevant question to him would
have been why Raymond Davis got
released only after he got his extension.
Leadership is the need of the hour. Our politicians are not capable and the alternative being the armed forces stand discredited, both due to their own doings. This does look like an ideal moment for someone to write his name into history.
Once again the image, honour and welfare of the military and the ISI is more important than the welfare of th people of Pakistan. The people of Pakistan should hang their heads in shame for not bowing their heads and not doing the militaries bidding.
Do not forget Senior Army Commands are liked by USA and got extension on their recommendation, otherwise they were already retired long before, now they are declared by USA, INCOMPETENT, even then they seem wishing to continue on their seats. Pakistan can not face American technology but at least can play a neutral role. Selling bases and making covert agreement like Musharraf is detrimental. One can be afraid that further secret agreements with USA by present chief may also be there and what the future of Pakistan ahead.
I have huge respect for Tehmina Doultana after reading this. My next vote will definitely be for the PML-N.
Pakistan gained nothing by hiding Osama. He simply hid very well, first in Afghanistan and then in Pakistan. Ofcourse Osama was never the main target of ISI, never a priority. It was the Indian funded-Afghan Taliban and BLA that were of actual concern. Bin laden was ofcouse, useless
But why all the crap about ISI not knowing about the operation, ofcourse they didnt know!!!
We know ISI is good, but the American Military Establishment is better…something we simply cant argue about.
An opportunity to get civilian control of the army/ISI. These fat cats have ruled Pakistan for long enuff. 3 wars we have lost already, lost half our country in 1971. If it comes to war with India, the eternal bogeyman, without Chinese help, we will never win anyway. Lets be realistic. Nuclear war is easy to talk of, but will finish off the subcontinent…China may threaten but will never openly attack India, plain economics, and we all know now where US support will go. They will attack us at the earliest opportunity. If we let the army carry on, TTP will come into our cities openly and blow us all up; they CAN do it, because they know what the army’s intentions are. Point is, if you send terrorists into other countries, they will come back to you. Its great riding the tiger, but you cant get off its back, for it WILL eat you. Competent civilian government has more chance of resolving Kashmir than all these terrorists anyway, for world sympathy will be with us. as it is, Kashmir is rapidly going off the world’s focus anyway, with India’s economic development increasing, and us going down the drain, it is going to get tougher. India might be doing wrong things, but at the moment no one believes a Pakistani.
