Was it an intelligence failure?

The armed forces of the country are a perfect sampling of the nation itself. If there are individuals in the ISI or the army who are sympathetic towards militancy then there are even more people among the political leadership who are loudly proclaiming their support for the Taliban. Examples of these are Imran Khan and Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

I believe that the joint session of the parliament should have been aired live on TV. There was no need of having an in-camera debate. I agree with Imran Khan on this account, though due to different reasons.

At the end of the day, parliament will agree with the suggested resignation of the ISI chief. The politicians will be content with their own inaction, claiming that justice has been served, and that will be it. There will be a new ISI chief and the whole nation, including Chaudhry Nisar and Imran Khan, will go back to sleep!
